Digital Records and Security

Markoff, John. "A Tool to Verify Digital Records, Even as Technology Shifts." New York Times 27 January 2009: D3.

The opening paragraph - "Simple-to-use digital technology will make it more difficult to distort history in the future" - serves as a good overview of this article's focus. Markoff uses the International Criminal Tribunal for the Rwandan genocide as an example of how digital technology can make historical records less susceptible to doctoring.
